Invasive Species WANTED Poster Assignment
During our SALMON WEEK! Preparation week before the eggs arrived in our classrooms, we began learning about what our Chinook salmon eat in the wild once the Chinook reach Lake Michigan.
It brought us to a discussion about aquatic invasive species in the Great Lakes and the Chinook's role in helping control the populations. We then created WANTED posters about the Invasive Species that we learned about in class.
The students researched their invasive species by means of looking up current event articles about the Great Lakes invasive species. The current event articles ranged from MLive Articles to DNR Press Releases. Through the articles they used facts and made inferences along with other backup research to create a WANTED poster that included:
